Abstract

Awareness of caring for the environment needs to be instilled from elementary school age as a foundation for building sustainable character. The WIJABA Environmental Education program was carried out as a form of community service at SDN Klurak in Sidoarjo Regency to increase students' ecological awareness and responsibility through five of the eight available learning modules. This activity uses a Service Learning method carried out through stages of analysis, planning, implementation, and reflection. Students take on the role of facilitators in delivering material about Roots & Shoots, interdependence among living beings, endangered animal conservation, environmental issues, and tree planting practices. The results of the activity showed an increase in students’ active participation in discussions, educational games, and field practices. Although behavioral changes haven't been measured quantitatively, this activity provides meaningful learning experiences and is a first step in raising students' awareness and concern for environmental conservation.
