Abstract

Rural communities in Indonesia still face significant barriers to Islamic financial inclusion, including low financial literacy and limited access to Sharia-compliant products. This community service project was implemented through a Service-Based Learning approach at the Jelbuk Branch of BMT NU, Jember Regency, East Java, during February–March 2026. This project socialized two flagship products: KURMA (Special Ramadan Business Financing) and LASISMA (Congregation-Based Services) to residents of Sukowiryo Village, Jelbuk, Jember. Within the Service-Based Learning framework, students simultaneously engaged as learners and as active contributors to the outreach capacity of partner institutions. Findings indicate that door-to-door outreach and synergy with community congregation networks effectively increased community awareness and interest in Sharia financing. Key barriers include low Sharia financial literacy and institutional skepticism. This program strengthened community empowerment and equipped students with practical competencies in Islamic economic law.
